Ping has for some time been one of the leaders in the women's golf club department, with the Rhapsody and G Le models providing female golfers with the kind of quality clubs and technological enhancements required to improve their games.

Ping G Le2 Women's Golf Clubs

Its latest release, the G Le2 family, is said to be the highest-performing women's clubs to date with advancements in technology, lighter club weights, greater fitting options and premium construction materials.

Ping Executive Vice-President Stacey Pauwels, who also happens to be the grandaughter of Ping founders Karsten and Louise Solheim:

To achieve one of our performance goals of improving the feel of the club throughout the entire swing, we focused on making the clubs lighter overall. We integrated our extensive knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes with out proven design technologies to deliver measurable improvements throughout the set. At the same time, we wanted to present the new clubs in a visually appealing and confidence-inspiring way. We're extremely excited about the results and look forward to bringing the G Le2 family to women golfers around the world.

Custom fit and custom built

One of the biggest areas of emphasis with this new release was Ping's engineering team adding more fitting options to match up with the general performance benefits, helping women to find the perfect set for their game.

Explaining more on this, Pauwels said:

Having equipment that is custom fitted to their games allows women to see improvement from every club in their bag. The G Le2 family really emphasises that need through loft, lie and length adjustability, along with the shaft weight, flex and grip offerings.

Once we know those specifications, finding the best combination of fairway woods, hybrids, irons and wedges during a fitting is the next step in the process.

Because we custom build every club, we want women to know we'll make them a set that best fits their game. The key is determining the ideal set make up that provides proper distance gaps between each club.

That may be a full set, or maybe a smaller set of a few metal woods, hybrids, irons, a wedge and a putter. Once we have all their fitting information, we can custom build the clubs to their precise specifications for maximum performance.

Lighter, faster, more forgiving driver

The new Ping G Le2 Driver (£389 RRP) is said to maximise forgiveness and distance by providing a higher MOI, with a faster face and a lighter overall weight. It has a titanium head which is a rounder, more aerodynamic shape to promote faster clubhead speed.

The thin, forged T9S+ has been optimised to perfom best with women's swing speeds, and increases flexing to create more ball velocity and help with better launch conditions. Weighting is centred towards the heel which heps to ensure straighter ball flights, whilst Ping's distinctive turbulators are present on the crown.

Ball flight can be influenced using eight different loft adjustments on the hosel, which Ping call Trajectory Tuning 2.0.

Faster faces, higher launching, adjustable fairway woods

Available in 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods, the G Le2 fairway woods (£240 RRP) feature a thinner, faster maraging steel C30 face, a much higher (compared to previous models) MOI and an 8-lobe hosel for adjustability.

The face technology allows for greater ball speed which increases distance, whilst the shallower face makes it easier to launch the ball high and with greater forgiveness.

The overall club weight is light, which makes it easier to swing the club at speed to generate greater distance, and there is internal weighting which helps to correct the right-to-left shot.

Lighter, longer and straighter irons

Also featuring a lighter overall club weight, the Ping G Le2 irons (£126 per irons) use COR-Eye Technology including a top-rail undercut, which increases face flexing to create better ball speed and a higher flight.

A tungsten toe weights gives a 10% increase in MOI for better forgiveness, whilst a cavity badge ensures a good feel and sound. They are available from 6 iron to SW.

Faster face, higher launching hybrids with more fitting choices

The G Le2 hybrids have a thinner, hotter CarTech Custom 455 face and are lightweight to help with generating faster ball speeds, with a CG which is lower and deeper in the face to increase MOI for high launch and forgiveness.

Ping has also added a 34⁰ 7-hybrid to expand the fitting options for women who'd prefer the easy launch and forgiveness of an extra hybrid over an iron. There are 'soft' turbulators on the crown which can help golfers with alignment too. They are available in 4, 5, 6 and 7 hybrids at an RRP of £179, or £126 when purchased with at least 5 irons.

Adjustable putters with feel and forgiveness

The three new G Le2 putters focus on better feel and forgiveness, and feature the same fitting opportunities and adjustable-length shaft technology as in the men's Sigma 2 range.

A dual-durometer face insert is engineered with TR face technology to provide a soft front, which adds precision and a better feel, with a second layer for control and consistency on different-length putts.

Ping's adjustable shaft allows for you to fit the putter to your own preference, with lengths varying between 31" and 35". There's also a new PP59 midsize grip which adds feel and comfort.

The Anser and Shea putters are priced at an RRP of £200, whilst the Echo putter is £260.
