When you think of Titleist golf balls, the first thing that is bound to pop into your head is the Pro V1. Over the last twenty years it has established a position as the #1 ball in the game and is used worldwide by amateurs and professionals alike.
Speak to people at Titleist however and they are keen to stress that they have a whole range of golf balls available to suit golfers of all ability types and to fit within a range of budgets.
Two products in the range are the TruFeel and Velocity golf balls, which have both now been updated for 2022.
Titleist TruFeel Golf Ball 2022
The softest ball in Titleist's lineup, the new TruFeel has been redesigned to deliver more distance than before along with an even softer feel around the green.
To do so, Titleist's R&D team engineered a larger and faster core and high-performance aerodynamics which generate more distance. A thinner TruFlex cover provides improved feel and control, to give you better results on shorter shots around the green.
"The TruFeel golfer is primarily focused on long and soft, but also seeks overall performance. That is where TruFeel stands out in its category, where the golfer doesn't have to sacrifice performance and can trust the quality and consistency of Titleist."
Frederick Waddell, Director of Golf Ball Product Management, Titleist.
Performance and Technology:
- New larger, faster and low compression TruTouch core generates low spin for long distance
New thinner reformulated TruFlex cover is a proprietary Titleist formulation designed for very soft feel and excellent greenside control
Spherically-tiled 376 tetrahedral dimple design features a symmetrically optimised pattern, to enhance long game distance.
The TruFeel uses the same alignment aid stamping on the side of the ball that was on the original model.
This gives the golfers the option to easily aligned the ball, without having to mark a line on it. This was inspired by the most popular alignment aid available through MyTitleist customisation.
The Titleist TruFeel is offered in both white and high optic yellow and will be available everywhere from 4th February, with Matte Red golf balls available from 1st October. They are priced at an SRP of £24 per dozen.
Titleist Velocity Golf Ball 2022
Titleist describe their Velocity golf ball as being 'built for distance' and the latest model provides increased speed with high flight to do just that.
This is delivered via a new higher compression core and new cover combination, to deliver the longest and best performing Velocity ball to date.
"We take the same principles and fundamentals that we utilise in the Pro V1 and AVX and apply them to Velocity. It is a matter of balancing the components to achieve the goals for Velocity of increased overall distance and improved greenside spin."
"In this case we developed a higher compression core and complemented that with a new cover formulation. The combination of those two factors helped us meet and exceed the expectations we had for this product."
Mike Madson, Director of Aerodynamics and Research Engineering, Titleist.
The Velocity is manufactured at Titleist's Ball Plant 2 in Greater New Bedford, Massachusetts to ensure consistent performance quality in every ball produced.
Performance and Technology:
- New higher compression 1.550" LSX Core generates faster speed on full swing shots to deliver maximum distance.
Available worldwide from 4th February, the Velocity will be introduced in White firstly, with Matte Orange, Matte Green and Matte Blue to follow later in the year.
They are priced at an SRP of £28 per dozen.
