The new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are looking to pick up where the TS Metals left off, in providing golfers with more speed for better distance and consistent results throughout the bag.

Titleist say that the new balls are “faster from core to cover” and designed to create more ball speed with lower spin at the top end of the bag, whilst still providing control and feel around the green to help golfers lower their scores.

For the first time since it's launch, the market-leading Pro V1 and Pro V1x will now also be available in a high optic yellow due to popular demand from amateur golfers, which will hopefully make your ball stand out and save you from having to dip back into your bag for a replacement quite as often.

Michael Mahoney, Vice President of Golf Ball Marketing said:

When we set out to develop the 2019 models, we found that golfers at every level are extraordinarily satisfied with the performance of their Pro V1 or Pro V1x. At the same time, golfers keep telling us that they would still like more distance- as long as they don’t have to give anything else up.

Through the prototyping process, our chemists and engineers discovered a way to cast an even thinner urethane cover, and therefore increase the percentage of speed-enhancing materials in the overall construction. Pro V1 and Pro V1x are now even faster, as a result, all while maintaining the scoring performance and feel characteristics that golfers demand from these balls.

As you would expect with Titleist’s history of intensive and precise manufacturing processes, the new balls have been optimised using a number of new technologies to find areas of improvement.

Titleist Pro V1 Ball 2019

A 17% thinner cast Urethane Elastomer cover is the main driving force behind the greater ball speed. Titleist’s casting technology means that the thinner layer is able to be used, whilst retaining Drop and Stop greenside control and soft feel seen in previous models.

This ball speed is also increased by a thicker casing layer, underneath the cover, which results in lower driver and long game spin too.

At the centre, new 2.0 ZG Process Cores are designed to maximise more distance. Titleist say that the outer portions of the core in the Pro V1 and the dual core of the Pro V1x have both increased in stiffness, whilst remaining soft in the middle, which again generates higher ball speed and lower long game spin.

Titleist Pro V1 Ball 2019

When choosing which of the two balls is the best for your game, the same rules as in previous generations of the Pro V remain.

The Pro V1 provides optimal flight and spin for the majority of golfers, with a lower, more penetrating flight than the X and a very soft feel.

Titleist Pro V1 Ball 2019

The Pro V1x flies a little higher with more spin generated on approach shots, and a slightly firmer feel, and tends to suit those golfers with high swing speeds or high spinners.

Titleist Pro V1 Ball 2019

The Pro V1 is a three-piece ball, compared to the Pro V1x as a four-piece, and has 352 dimples compared to the X’s 328.

Titleist Pro V1 Ball 2019

The new 2019 balls will be available from 23rd January, with the high optic yellow models arriving in time for the golfing season on 15th March, at £52 per dozen.
