TaylorMade’s P-Series iron collection has been one of the most successful in the market for a number of years now, ranging from the extremely popular P790 model all the way down to the Tiger Woods-inspired P7TW, which Scottie Scheffler has been using to rack up wins this season.

For 2024 the brand have announced two new updates to the range, in the form of a refreshed P770 and an all-new P7CB, which we have already seen in the bag of some tour pros this season.

TaylorMade used feedback from their tour player during the design phase of both the P770 and P7CB irons, producing a compact, clean profile.

Both irons fit within the ‘players iron’ category, with a thin topline and smaller blade length, but the P7CB has a thinner, more compact shape than the P770.

The P770 has a new modified leading edge, to encourage shot shaping and better turf interaction, whilst the P7CB has a specific sole camber and progressive bounce profile which gives consistent turf interaction as you move through the set.

With the players irons like this, one of the key features that golfers want is feel, and the P770 irons use a ‘players forged construction’ to provide a pure feel at impact, as well as an improved sound.

The P7CB irons feature Compact Grain Forging, using 2,000 tons of pressure to create the best feeling and most responsive soft carbon steel possible.

Both irons use precision milled faces and grooves, to promote consistent launch and spin for better flight and distance control.

The P770 irons have a FLTD CG, which moves the CG lower in the long irons and then gets progressively higher in the short irons, providing the best launch conditions for each club.

There’s also an updated tungsten weight and a slightly wider sole compared to the previous P770 model, which helps to produce a more consistent flight in the shorter irons whilst also helping the long irons to launch more easily.

In the P7CB, a constant CG is designed to build confidence that every shot is going to launch and fly in a predictable pattern, with consistent spin levels.
