Phenom is a word that describes a young up and coming talent so it's appropriate that TaylorMade is using it for a set of clubs designed to help young golfers taking their first strides in the game.
Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade's Senior Director of Product Creation, explains the concept behind the Phenom set:
Phenom sets are precision-engineered to provide the optimal lengths, weights, lofts and shaft flexes to promote proper swing mechanics for young golfers. Each Phenom set includes every club necessary to develop distance gapping while executing all types of shots from tee to green so juniors not only develop their skills but also their passion for the game.
Each club has a graphite shaft with both the flex and weight optimised for the length of the club and the grips have been developed to allow smaller hands to develop feel throughout the swing.
The Phenom driver has a 400cc titanium head designed to the USGA limit for COR to ensure a fast speed from the face for great distance. With the improving player in mind though the head also has weight distributed to promote an easy launch and maximum forgiveness.
The Phenom fairway wood is constructed from stainless steel with a low-CG design to help junior golfers get the ball airborne from the tee of the fairway. A large head profile also boosts forgiveness and promotes confidence at address.
Like the fairway, the Phenom Rescue club has a stainless steel head designed to be easy to launch with distance that gives a versatility to bridge the gap between fairways and irons that is often a problem for junior players.
The Phenom irons are perimeter weighted for forgiveness and feature a generous offset to help square the club at impact. The profile encourages high and straight shots with greater accuracy whilst the sole design encourages an easy playability from a variety of lies and course conditions.
Completing the set is a face-balanced, centre shafted mallet putter that is easy to align and gives a soft yet solid feel at impact to boost confidence on the greens. Heel-toe weighting increases forgiveness on off-centre strikes and the putter grip has been specially designed to promote optimum stability.
The set comes with an ultra-lightweight stand bag with dual ergnomic straps so your golfing Phenom can comfortably carry their clubs around the course.
