Callaway seriously impressed us when they released their Mack Daddy 5 JAWS Wedges last year, as you can see from our review here. They looked great, there was plenty of grind and bounce options, and the new grooves provided fantastic control on short game shots.
Now they're making life even easier for golfers all around the world with the introduction of the new Mack Daddy CB, which is still giving you spin and precision but packaging it up in a friendly, cavity back head.
The idea behind this is that the wedges provide a smoother transition between your irons and your wedges, whilst also providing a little more consistency for when you don't quite make perfect contact.
The Mack Daddy CB features a deep cavity back design, with a slightly larger head and thicker topline than the MD5, and Callaway says that this gives you the 'confidence of an iron with the control of a wedge'.
The wedge, which comes in a brushed chrome finish, is available in two different sole grinds shaped by Roger Cleveland.
In the lower lofts, the full sole provides iron-like interaction with the turf, whilst the mid and higher lofts a new modified W Grind has more bounce to make it even easier to pop the ball out of thick rough or bunkers.
The W Grind also features a slightly lower leading edge, making it easier for the player to open up the face for a little extra loft.
Like the MD5, the Mack Daddy CB features Callaway's new JAWS grooves, with extra sharpness on the edge of every groove, for a little extra grip and spin regardless of the lie.
On the sand and lob wedges, these grooves extend right the way across the face - something that was first seen in Phil Mickelson's PM Grind - to try and give you more control no matter where you strike it.
The new Mack Daddy CB is available in KBS Hi-Rev steel or graphite shafts, with lofts ranging from 46 degree pitching wedge to 60 degree lob wedge.
To complete the offering there's a new Golf Pride SG-1 grip which is longer than normal, at 11.5 inches, allowing you to grip down for more versatility and control around the greens.
The Callaway Mack Daddy CB will be available in right and left-handed options at an RRP of £119, from September 24th.
