Anyone who has played golf will know that Titleist's Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the number one balls in the game, and have been for quite some time.
For 2023 Titleist are introducing their next generation of the Pro V1 line, with brand new core technology to take their tee-to-green performance and consistency to another level.
New High Gradient Core Design
A new, reimagined high gradient core design in the Pro V1 and Pro V1x (dual core) are designed to be firmer on the outside and get progressively softer on the inside. This is said to promote faster ball speeds and lower long game spin.
The core takes inspiration from the Pro V1 Left Dot and Pro V1x Left Dash, which both already feature high gradient cores and have been the balls of choice for a number of tour players over the last few years.
New Dual-Core Dimension
The Pro V1x now features a dual core design, with the inner core increasing the centre volume by 44% from 1" to 1.13".
This larger and softer centre helps to keep down long game spin, making the ball flight more stable through the air.
Speed Amplifying High-Flex Casing Layer
Casing layers on both the Pro V1 and Pro V1x interact with the high-gradient cores, to minimise excess spin and combining with the soft cast urethane cover for more greenside spin and control.
Cast Thermoset Urethane Cover
The urethane covers on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x use a new thermoset process, where a liquid urethane is poured into the Titleist-manufactured moulds to form the right dimple pattern into the cover
The timing and temperature of this process are crucial to the consistency of the urethane and this helps to produce more reliable results for better performance out on the course.
Spherically-tiled Tetrahedral Dimple Designs
388 dimples on the Pro V1 and 348 dimples on the Pro V1x optimise aerodynamics to enable the ball to fly long and consistent, with the extra dimples on the Pro V1x promoting a slightly higher launch and ball flight compared to the Pro V1x.
Pro V1 or Pro V1x?
Pro V1 is the best choice for golfers seeking low long game spin, more distance, a penetrating ball flight and greenside control with a soft feel.
Pro V1x is the best option for golfers seeking a higher ball flight and more spin, with a firmer feel than the Pro V1.
The Pro V1 and Pro V1x were first introduced on the PGA Tour in September 2022, and since then more than 45 players have already made the switch to the new models - including Will Zalatoris, Sungjae Im and Viktor Hovland at the Sentry Tournament of Champions earlier this month.
The new 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf ball will be available from 3rd February (17th February for Yellow) and priced at £50 per dozen.
