Garmin is bringing daily activity tracking and golf GPS distance information together in the sleek Approach X40 golf band.
One of the smallest activity trackers with GPS capabilities the Apporach X40 comes preloaded with information for more than 40,000 courses with no additional fees or subscriptions and gives precise distance measurement to the front, middle and back of the green as well as layups to doglegs and hazards.
The X40, whose screen measures 25.4 x 10.7 mm with a resolution of 160 x 68 pixels, also gives you a Green View display that shows the shape and layout around the green as well allowing you to re-position the pin to the current location for increased accuracy on approaches.
As well as giving yardages the Approach X40 also tracks your game thanks to an AutoShot feature that records information as you play. By automatically registering when you take a shot, your round is recorded and can then be uploaded automatically via the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
Once online, the data is turned into useful data like the average distance for each club, longest drive, average score and number of putts, as well as hole by hole details allowing you to assess individual trends and tendencies to help you improve your game.
The Approach X40 is very much aimed at the active golfer who will make the most of the daily activity tracking functionality. The band records daily steps, calories burned, distance, time of day, hours of sleep and will also reminds you to stay active throughout the day with move alerts.
The X40 also monitors your heart rate around the clock and you can pair it to your smartphone to receive smart notifications of text messages, e-mails and alerts.
The Garmin Approach X40 weighs just 31g and comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that will give you up to 5 days use in activity tracking mode and up to 10 hours in GPS mode and comes in a choice of black, white, green and frost blue.
