For those golfers who can't seem to get on with fairway woods or hybrids, yet still want another option at the top end of the bag, Cobra have released a new King TEC Utility iron which is packed with some of the same technologies as the brand's metalwoods to provide golfers with ball speed and distance.
The Utility features a classic muscle-back iron shape with a relatively wide sole, to improve turf interaction from a variety of different turf conditions.
Speed and distance are provided thanks to a hollow body design and forged ST-118 Pwrshell face, as well as the H.O.T Face technology.
The H.O.T Face is developed using artificial intelligence and features zones with different thicknesses to increase ball speeds and produce more efficient spin on a larger area of the face.
A new Expancel Microsphere Foam is injected into the head to help improve the sound and the feel at impact, and this is a material which is also used in the King Forged TEC and TEC X irons.
The use of extreme tungsten weighting thanks to high density MIM tungsten weights lowers the CG to improve both launch and spin rates off the tee and on approaches into the green. The 2 iron contains 56g of tungsten, while the 3-5 irons feature 61g.
Cobra also offer a One Length version of the TEC Utility which is 37.25" in length to help with extra consistency and accuracy and can be used with the One Length iron set or on its own. This version of the utility has the most tungsten of any option, at 83g.
Available at retail from 3rd February, the King TEC Utility is priced at £189 (£199 for graphite) and is offered in lofts of 17 (RH only), 19, 22 and 25 degrees. The One Length irons are available in 19, 22 and 25 degrees in RH only.
