A year on from the release of their LTDx Fairways and Hybrids, Cobra have announced the launch of their new line, Aerojet.
Focusing on maximising speed and distance, Cobra has used the same technologies seen in the latest Cobra Aerojet Driver in their fairways and hybrids, designed to fit a wide range of players.
“The aerodynamic package in the new Aerojet family is our most advanced to date. We continue to balance the aggressive streamlining with optimum resilience properties to give players maximum club head speed and ball launch characteristics for increased distance.”
Mike Yagley, Vice President of Innovation, Cobra Golf.
Fairways
The first of Cobra's three latest fairway woods is the Aerojet LS. Cobra has focused this model on creating low spin, designed for players with faster swing speeds and uses forward weighting to produce lower workable trajectories. Also injected in this model are the technologies seen in the Cobra Aerojet Driver which Cobra call Pwr-Bridge weighting and Pwrshell H.O.T. Face technology. These technologies work together to maximize energy transfer through a low, forward CG and a more flexible face and sole area.
The second of Cobra's three latest fairway woods is the standard Aerojet. This model is aimed at the widest variety of players looking for easy launch, long distance, and forgiveness.
Alongside the Pwr-Bridge weighting and Pwrshell H.O.T. Face technology added to this model, Cobra has added a 12g weight at the back of the sole which contributes to a higher launch and makes this club as forgiving as possible. Also included in this model is a lightweight carbon crown, providing a low CG by removing weight from the upper portion of the clubhead.
The third and final of Cobra's latest fairways is the Aerojet Max. It combines the quickness and forgiving performance of the standard Aerojet model with increased launch and draw bias to create Cobra's most forgiving fairway.
To fine-tune the balance between forgiveness and draw, a movable weight system with 12g and 3g weights is placed in the back of the sole. Again, Pwr-Bridge weighting and Pwrshell H.O.T. Face technology gives the quickest ball speed possible with low and forward weighting and an optimised variable thickness face design, while a carbon crown lowers the CG location for a faster launch.
Hybrids
Completing the new Aerojet family, Aerojet Hybrids feature a new shape with a lower heel and a more rounded crown compared to last year's LTDx Hybrid. In addition to being built in a shorter setup to complement the one-length irons in a combination set, the Aerojet one-length Hybrid may be popular among many players who don't use one-length irons because of its high launching and forgiving performance. The hybrids also include Pwr-Bridge weighting and Pwrshell H.O.T. Face technology.
Cobra's latest Aerojet fairways are priced at £269 and the Aerojet Hybrid is valued at £219. All Cobra Aerojet products will be available at retail and online, on February 10, 2023.
