Cleveland has announced the latest generation of their forgiving CBX wedges with the new CBX 4 ZipCore for 2024.
The wedges are designed to help golfers strike the ball more consistency, and have been modelled to blend with cavity back or hollow irons for a seamless transition which maintains a similar swing feel as you move between your clubs, as Cleveland's Joe Miller explains:
"What's great about the new CBX 4 ZipCore is that they share similar shaping and weighting to modern forgiving irons, and so the transition from your irons to your wedges is going to be consistent with what you're used to. You'll have that same swing feel and find more consistency around the greens."
"If you're a mid-to-high handicapper looking for a premium wedge you can feel confident with, these wedges are the answer. The CBX 4 ZipCore is the total package, packed with performance features geared towards real golfers looking to improve their short game without limitations."
Joe Miller, European Product Manager, Cleveland Golf Europe.
The wedges are highlighted by new ZipCore technology, which helps to reposition mass across toe of the head and high/low on the face. It also enhances forgiveness by aligning the CG right behind where the club is most likely to strike the ball.
Cleveland say that it features a 7% increase in heel/toe MOI and a 5.8% increase in high/low MOI compared to the previous generation of the wedge, which equates to the highest total MOI in a CBX wedge to date.
A Gelback TPU insert works to ensure a better feel at impact by absorbing vibrations when the ball is struck, whilst HydraZip and UltiZip work together to enhance spin from different lies and weather conditions.
HydraZip uses a unique laser line and blast treatment to increase friction off the face, while UltiZip grooves are designed to cut through debris. Cleveland say that this results in more spin, more control and increased consistency.
The new wedges feature a number of Dynamic Sole Grind options which are optimised for each loft, making it easier than ever for golfers to select the right sole shape.
All of the V-Shaped, S-Shaped and C-Shaped sole grinds feature new leading-edge bounce chamfer to promote smoother turf interaction from different attack angles.
The Cleveland CBX 4 ZipCore wedges are available at retail from 10th February and are priced at £159 for steel shafts and £169 for graphite.
For right handed golfers, the wedge is available from 44 to 60 degrees; and from 50 to 60 degrees in left handed.
