If you have a keen eye when it comes to golf equipment, then you may have noticed that a new set of Callaway irons have been spotted in the bags of a number of Tour Pros in the last few weeks, including last week's European Tour winner Callum Shinkwin.
They are the latest edition of the ultra-sleek Apex MB irons, which Callaway say are specifically designed for 'the best players in the game'.
We last tested the Apex MB three years ago and we were really impressed with the excellent feel and turf interaction, so it'll be interesting to see what improvements have been made with the latest model.
Tour Shaping and Design
As you'd expect from Callaway's primary blade offering, the Apex MB features a classical shape and style with a traditional topline, refined sole and compact blade length, along with an eye-catching chrome finish.
High Performance 20V Grooves
These new precision grooves are designed to provide high levels on control and consistent spin as required by elite muscleback players to score in any playing conditions.
The 20V grooves are also stand out to reduce fliers from the rough, delivering even more control so that you can plot your way around the course and be confident in your club's yardages on every shot.
New CG Weighting
The most notable new addition to the Apex MB iron this year is the weight added to the centre of the clubhead, which allows Callaway to precisely configure swingweights without having to sacrifice the CG location.
This means that if the fitter and player want to make tweats to the shaft or grip of the club, the weight can simply be adjusted in accordance rather than having to try and add or remove weight elsewhere.
The Callaway Apex MB Irons are not currently available in Europe although we understand that they are due to be introduced during the early stages of 2021. Pricing has not yet been disclosed, although in the US they are priced at $185 per iron for steel shafts, and $200 per iron for graphite shafts.
