When it comes to golf balls, though most brands won't want to admit it, pretty much everybody is chasing Titleist's Pro V1. It has been the ball of choice among both pros and amateur golfers for decades and has set the standard for performance.
For 2024, Callaway are making their biggest effort yet to match, or even surpass, the Pro V1 with the all-new Chrome Tour balls, said to be the 'gold standard' tour ball for better players looking for 'the best in distance and feel'.
There are three models in the 2024 Chrome Family, including an update to their popular Chrome Soft ball.
Callaway Chrome Tour Golf Ball
For the new Chrome Tour ball Callaway say that they have optimised every detail, including adding a new core, inner mantle, outer mantle and cover formulation - to produce outstanding performance.
The new Hyper Fast Soft Core is engineered for fast ball speeds, designed for better players who want a combination of long distance and soft feel.
A new unique aerodynamic design is built to provide consistently stable ball flights regardless of the weather conditions for better and more reliable results.
A new Tour Urethane Soft Cover is said to add high levels of greenside spin and control, allowing better players to be more aggressive on shots thanks to added spin through the bag, with the cover providing a Tour-level feel.
Each of the technologies goes through rigorous measurement at Callaway's ball plant during the manufacturing process, with over 100 million proof points, to achieve more consistent performance in the ball.
Callaway Chrome Tour X Golf Ball
The Chrome Tour X features a number of the same technologies as the standard Chrome Tour ball, but is designed for golfers looking for distance, workability and spin from tee-to-green.
The Hyper Fast Soft Core is engineered for players who are seeking maximum ball speed and distance, particularly with their driver, whilst the Seamless Tour Aero design encourages a penetrating ball flight with more workability throughout the bag.
The new Tour Urethane Soft cover provides added spin and workability in the Chrome Tour X, which is designed to help golfers enjoy more precision in their iron and wedge shots.
Callaway Chrome Soft 24 Golf Ball
Whilst the Chrome Soft ball has been traditionally used by both Tour pros and amateur golfers alike since it was first launched back in 2015, Callaway are saying that this time around it's going to be aimed at the 'aspirational players' who are looking for Tour quality.
The Hyper Fast Soft Core is said to generate the most speed from a golf ball thanks to optimised compression and material properties, whilst the uniquely design Seamless Tour aerodynamics match the launch characteristics of the ball and provide an optimised flight from impact to landing.
The new Tour Urethane Soft Cover creates a softer feel which produces more spin and more consistent spin, giving golfers more bite around the greens.
The new Chrome Soft, Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X balls are available at retail from 2nd February and have an RRP of £55.
They are available with a number of different colourways and visual technologies:
White, Yellow, Triple Track, 360 Triple Track, Truvis and Trutrack.
